Sabres and Roswell Park Team Up to Offer Free Prostate Cancer Early Detection Clinic Nov. 14 at KeyBank Center

Roswell Park physicians will offer medical testing and private educational consultations in Lexus Club

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park and the Buffalo Sabres are teaming up to offer free prostate cancer early detection for eligible men. The Nov. 14 event, the latest in the joint One Team, One Goal: Together to Beat Cancer initiative, is part of an ongoing effort to reduce cancer’s impact among the team’s fans through prevention, education and early detection.

The free prostate cancer early detection/education event will be held 4–7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14 at KeyBank Center’s Lexus Club. Eligible men 40 and over will have the opportunity to get tested for prostate cancer by Roswell Park physicians. They’ll also have a chance to meet Sabres alumni, enjoy refreshments, win raffle prizes, get a tour of KeyBank Center and talk one-on-one to Roswell Park experts.

“Not everyone who gets prostate cancer will need treatment for prostate cancer, but because this is such a common and potentially life-threatening disease, it’s very important for men to be proactive about their health. Know what your risk is, talk to your primary care provider about what that means for you and make sure you are staying on schedule with recommended testing,” says Khurshid Guru, MD, Chair of Urology at the Buffalo-based comprehensive cancer center.

Men 40 or older can go to roswellpark.org/onegoal or call 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355) to preregister and confirm that they are eligible for this free testing and consultation.

Prostate cancer patients, survivors and caregivers can come an hour early, from 3-4 p.m., to hear Roswell Park experts give presentations on the latest advances in prostate cancer treatment and survivorship support.

Also participating in the event will be two educational partners, Men Allied for the Need to Understand Prostate Cancer (MANUP) and the Us TOO prostate cancer support group.
