Divisions
Anatomic Pathology
Anatomic pathology provides subspecialty surgical pathology and cytopathology services for all disease types ensuring accurate and timely patient diagnosis. This division includes:
- Surgical pathology
- Cytopathology
- Autopsy service
Hematopathology
The Division of Hematopathology provides comprehensive diagnostic reports that integrate complex information from morphological assessment, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometric analysis, cytogenetic, and molecular genetic studies. Our division includes these key services:
- Cytogenetics laboratory
- Flow cytometry laboratory
- Bone marrow laboratory
Laboratory Medicine
The Division of Laboratory Medicine is responsible for performing all clinical laboratory testing at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY, and the Roswell Park Amherst Center in Williamsville, NY, which resulted in 1.27 million billable tests in fiscal year 2021. This division includes:
- Core laboratory
- Transfusion medicine
- Infectious disease
- Clinical research support
- Clinical mass spectrometry
Molecular Pathology
Molecular pathology, focused on the efficiency of utilization of next generation sequencing, provides rapid turn-around-time for complex laboratory developed tests.
Informatics
Informatics, the newest division of our department, is a very unique niche separate from information technology that allows us to be highly innovative.

Your access point and operational conduit to the clinical and educational services of the Department of Pathology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Outside pathologists, clinicians, educators and researchers can contact us to explore and establish collaborative opportunities or obtain diagnostic or consultation services.
