The Roswell Park Trocaire Scholars Program is an opportunity for a cohort of ten students to participate in professional development, job shadowing, and mentorship with professionals at Roswell Park.
A first-of-its-kind program, we aim to create a career pathway from student to employee, for those in the health sciences specialty with the goal of joining the Roswell Park team as a full-time employee upon completion of their degree.
Program highlights
In partnership with Trocaire College, ten students will be accepted into the program to work onsite at Roswell Park, through the Scholars Mentorship program. Acceptance is annual, with the ten new students brought into the program every fall.
Throughout the school year, students will have unique opportunities to further their education and experience in their area of study, including:
- Meeting with Trocaire College program coordinator to synthesize their time at Roswell Park into an educational experience
- Roswell Park-assigned mentor in the same field of study
- Designated Shadow Days with their mentor
- Professional development seminars
- $1,000 scholarship to program participants
The Roswell scholarship program is an amazing opportunity. From the start of this program, Roswell Park has made a huge effort to make sure they hear what we want to gain from this experience and in my case, it was more clinical experience and additional practice with skills. Roswell provided multiple shadowing opportunities to get the extra experience and skills. They ask about your areas of interest and place you on those floors for your shadowing to gain more insight to see if that's an area you would eventually like to work in. The Roswell Scholars Program also provides you with a mentor, which I thought was an amazing idea. It allowed me to have easier access when advice was needed or questions pertaining to nursing in general.— Kaitlyn Bruce

“I am grateful for the opportunities that Roswell has offered. To work in an environment that produces amazing health care workers has been eye opening. It provides you with the tools to be successful and explore options that may not be given elsewhere especially for those that want to specialize in a specific field right out of school.”
