New Patient Referrals
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center accepts all individuals with a suspicion or diagnosis of cancer or related disease. Patients may be referred by a physician or may directly seek consultation and treatment. The Patient Referral office is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 716-845-RPMD (716-845-7763) or 716-845-3516 to seek a consultation with one of the physicians on staff, a second opinion for one of your patients, or to refer a patient.
International Patient Referrals

Roswell Park's Patient Access – International Team is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Eastern Time, and may be reached at 1-716-845-4020.
Patient Hospital-based Transfers
If a physician from an outside hospital feels transfer to Roswell Park is warranted, they should call the Roswell Park Transfer Line at 716-845-4358. During business hours, Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., calls are handled directly by the Transfer Center. After 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, weekends and holidays, calls will be answered by the operator, and transferred to the Patient Care Coordinator who will further assist you. Once it is determined that transfer is appropriate, the Transfer Team/Patient Care Coordinator will facilitate the transfer by confirming physician acceptance, bed availability, and insurance approval.
Non-English Speaking Patients
Patients who do not speak English or who prefer to speak a language other than English have easy access to interpreters. Roswell Park contracts with the Language Line, a phone service that provides professional interpretation by certified medical interpreters in more than 170 languages. Central Access Associates can arrange a three-way call between the patient, a Language Line interpreter and any member of the Roswell Park staff.
During the patient’s hospital visits, medical staff can use a speakerphone to set up a three-way conversation between the patient, interpreter and medical staff, 24 hours a day. Non-English-speaking callers can also access Language Line services by calling Roswell Park’s Cancer Information Program at 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355) seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Roswell Park specialists are available to offer a second opinion to patients. If you would like to speak with one of our specialists, please call the referral office at 716-845-RPMD (716-845-7763) and leave a message for the desired specialist.
Because our physicians are categorized as sub-specialists in most health insurance provider manuals, you may not be aware whether your patient’s health insurance company will authorize treatment at Roswell Park. Our practice plan has contracts in place with major local, regional, and national insurance companies. We will work with you, your patient, and/or the insurance company to acquire the proper authorization.
