Chef's and 97 Rock Present Early Mother's Day Gift of $6,200 to Breast Cancer Research at Roswell Park

Funds raised during recent “Pink Wall of Hope” program

(BUFFALO, NY) Representatives from 97 Rock (WGRF-FM) and Chef's Restaurant today presented a check for $6,200 to support breast cancer research at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. The funds were raised between October 2010 and March 2011 through the “Pink Wall of Hope” campaign, a partnership between the organizations. The campaign gave Western New Yorkers the chance to make a donation to Roswell Park and honor a loved one by having their name inscribed on the outer brick wall of Chef's Seneca Street location in downtown Buffalo.

In addition to Louis J. Billitier, the owner of Chef's, and DJ Jickster of 97 Rock, representatives of Roswell Park and the cause's impact spoke at the gift presentation. Chi-Chen Hong, PhD, an Associate Member in the Department of Cancer Prevention and Control at Roswell Park, and Patricia Stewart, a breast cancer survivor, shared their personal perspectives on the importance of supporting breast cancer research at Roswell Park.

Hundreds of supporters from Western New York and beyond made donations to the Pink Wall of Hope during the campaign's run. After a donation was made, volunteers painted a personalized message in honor or memory of those touched by breast cancer on the Pink Wall at Chef's.

The funds raised will support the most promising research programs led by Roswell Park scientists who are searching for new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat breast cancer.
