Physician Joins Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department

BUFFALO, NY - Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center announced Yashodhara Satchidanand, MD has joined the Anesthesiology and Pain Management department as a physician and Assistant Professor in Oncology, with a specialty in palliative care. Dr. Satchidanand came to Roswell Park from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Cheektowaga, New York, where she served as the Director of Palliative Care.

She was honored with the “Hope, Care and Dignity” award for Physician of the Year from Hospice Buffalo in October 2008. Dr. Satchidanand recently gave a presentation on palliative care for non-cancer patients at an International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation meeting.

Dr. Satchidanand graduated from Gandhi Medical College, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India. She completed residencies in pathology at Barnet General Hospital in Hertfordshire, U.K. and anatomic pathology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Satchidanand also did a fellowship in anatomic pathology at Buffalo General Hospital.

Before joining St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dr. Satchidanand was a physician with Hospice Buffalo. She also has experience working with long-term care providers on palliative care programs. Dr. Satchidanand is certified by the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic Pathology and the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Care.She is a member of the American Association of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
