Roswell Park Offers Mindfulness Workshop at “Celebration of Hope”

A free Mindfulness Workshop is being offered to cancer patients, survivors and their caregivers and families during the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center “Celebration of Hope” – an event that coincides with the Ride for Roswell. The workshop will be held on the North Campus of the University at Buffalo, near UB Stadium, at 12 Capen Hall on Friday, June 26 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Experiencing high stress levels as well as feelings of anxiety and depression, difficulty sleeping, fatigue, pain and other symptoms is not uncommon among cancer survivors or their caregivers. One way toward achieving more peace and tranquility is through a meditation practice called mindfulness.

Maria Kahn, Mindfulness Training and Stress Management Consultant, will provide insights into the scientific basis behind the practice and teaching of mindfulness. She will offer exercises that can be used to help improve feelings of empowerment, manage stress, increase feelings of calm and decrease physical symptoms.

The workshop is free, but seating is limited. To register to attend, call 1-800-ROSWELL (1-800-767-9355) or visit RoswellPark.org/CelebrationofHope.
