Roswell Park Hosts Networking Day for Neuroendocrine Cancer Patients

Patients and survivors treated for rare neuroendocrine cancers, along with their families, are invited to an informational networking event hosted by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center on Saturday, August 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at the Buffalo Niagara Marriott, 1340 Millersport Highway, Amherst, N.Y.

At this year’s meeting, Roswell Park physicians and care team members will stage a multi-disciplinary conference with real cases. Attendees will get a chance to see what it’s like “behind the scenes” of their care. The keynote address “Why Should I Be My Own Advocate?” will be presented by Maryann Wahmann, President, Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network (NCAN) and Carcinoid Survivor.

“At Roswell Park, we believe that with a multidisciplinary team, knowledge, resources and support, neuroendocrine tumor patients can become survivors and enjoy long, productive lives in spite of cancer,” says Renuka Iyer, MD, Associate Professor of Oncology at Roswell Park.

Neuroendocrine cancers are rare cancers of the signaling cells of our body that generally grows slowly and produce hormones. Patients can live with neuroendocrine tumors for a long time and usually need of team specialists to sequence treatments to help ensure the highest quality care.
