About Hassan Awada

Biography:

My medical journey started with a BS in Biology at the American University of Beirut followed by medical degree from Trinity School of Medicine.

Before residency, I pursued a year of Translational Hematology and Oncology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic, focused on bone marrow failure syndromes and myeloid malignancy research. This resulted in multiple authored publications in Blood, Nature Communications, Leukemia, JCI Insights, Haematologica, British Journal of Haematology, Blood Advances and other journals.

In addition, I was selected by ASH among “The 2019 Outstanding Abstract Achievement Award recipients” for my work which defined molecular events that drive the malignant transformation from PNH to leukemia. I also delivered several oral presentations in ASH 2019 and 2020 annual meetings.

Following my research year, I completed my internal medicine training at the Cleveland Clinic Fairview and Akron General hospitals before joining Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center for fellowship.

My fascination with cancer science is synchronized with my love and admiration for cancer patients who constantly empower me by their strong hope, solid faith, and courageous spirit they demonstrate even when vulnerable. This consistently inspires me to strive everyday to learn more about them and their disease, serve them in the best possible way, and do my very best to leave a positive impact on their lives through my clinical care and research contributions
