Roswell Park Care Network Update

American businessman, philanthropist and author Tom Golisano has committed $1.5 million to support the new $2 million Golisano Medical Oncology Center at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center.

The new center will be operated by Memorial in affiliation with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Bhuvaneswari Ramkumar, a hematologist and oncologist, board certified in internal medicine and hospice and palliative care, will see her patients at this site when it opens this spring. She currently sees her patients at the Roswell Park Care Network’s Niagara practice at 2931 Military Road in Niagara Falls.

The Golisano Medical Oncology Center will make Roswell’s expertise – in areas including hematology, chemotherapy infusion and the newest cancer treatments, including immunotherapies – more readily accessible to those who live and work in Niagara County. It will be located on the fourth floor of Memorial’s Schoellkopf Building.

Roswell Park already provides integrated screening and treatment for lung and thoracic cancers at Memorial; and last year, Memorial joined the Roswell Park Care Network, a collaborative that allows patients access to the cancer care of our region’s only nationally designated comprehensive cancer center, in their own communities.

Southtowns Expansion

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Roswell Park Care Network has extended itself in a big way with its move to a 15,000 sq. ft. facility at 3041 Orchard Park Road in Orchard Park, and its radiation oncology center, an alliance between Roswell Park, Catholic Health and Buffalo Medical Group located at 3910 North Buffalo Road, in Orchard Park.

The expanded and relocated practice of Roswell Park Care Network’s West Seneca practice (formerly Dr. Isosceles Garbes practice), has brought specialty cancer care and supportive services to the community in and around Southern Erie county.

The Orchard Park location is served by a team of nurses, medical assistants, administrative staff and experts across several different areas of oncology — medical oncology, hematology, breast surgery, chemotherapy and infusion, dermatology, gynecology, cancer screening and survivorship, and an onsite Patient and Family Resource Center. The team includes several Roswell Park physicians with specialty training and experience.
