Yoga classes, drumming circles, sessions on nutrition and physical therapy, and general presentations about cancer survivorship were among the attractions that drew 200 survivors and caregivers to Roswell Park on June 16 & 17. “Chapter 2: A Cancer Survivor’s Workshop for Living Your Best Life” offered practical information for staying healthy mentally and physically.

“I think it’s great,” said Ashley, one of the participants. “There’s really nothing where I’m from — no support groups or anything like that. After chemo is done, everyone is like, ‘Oh, you’re good,’ but there’s still a lot more to it for the healing process, and this has definitely helped mentally.”

Sara, another participant, described the event as “food for the soul. I just feel like I’ve been rejuvenated. It’s wonderful.”

If you couldn’t be there, you can watch videos of presentations by three experts including keynote speaker Alejandro Chaoul, PhD, Director of Education with the Integrative Medicine Program of M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.

Save the Date: Next year’s workshop will take place Saturday, Sept. 15, 2018.
