Dr. Buxbaum was recently featured in a Buffalo News story that follows Ukrainian student Yaroslav Malynych through his first year in the United States. Yaroslav, alongside his roommate Max Poplavskyi, spent the summer of 2023 working as interns in the Buxbaum Lab.

The two young scientists are among 11 Ukrainians sponsored by D’Youville University in Buffalo. The school is providing their tuition, room and board, and work-study jobs for their full four years.

Yaroslav wants to specialize in liquid chromatography, a technique used in analytical chemistry to identify compounds in a mixture. Maksym is studying biology.
