Celebrating Life: A Cancer Survivors Day 2011 Recap

Highlights
  • Approximately 3,000 attendees and volunteers took part in this year's event
  • Survivors Day and Ride For Roswell opening ceremonies will combine next year

Cancer Survivors Day 2011 brought a record number of guests to Roswell Park. Approximately 3,000 attendees and volunteers took part in this year's event, held Sunday, June 12 at Roswell Park — which is why we're looking at uniting Cancer Survivors Day and The Ride For Roswell opening ceremonies into one super-sized celebration of life in 2012.

"Somehow, every year's Survivors Day is even better than the year before. I saw so many people laughing, watching their kids and grandkids play games or get their faces painted and just having such a great time," says Laurel DiBrog, Vice President of Marketing, Planning and Public Affairs. "But we've outgrown our space on campus. The option we're looking at is to combine the energy of the Ride with the joy and playfulness of Cancer Survivors Day, which could be just spectacular."

Thank you to all who attended and volunteered, and to our sponsors and partners! Click here to see photos, media coverage, and a list of basket winners from this year’s event, and check this page again soon to watch a video of Cancer Survivors Day 2011.
