Clinical excellence and academic achievement

We designed the Roswell Park Radiation Oncology Residency to give you hands-on clinical and research experience in a collegiate and friendly atmosphere.

With only six residents in training, our small size offers great flexibility with responsiveness to your academic needs and special interests.

Rotations

During your clinical rotations, you’ll work one-on-one with attending physicians and physician assistants, and take a lead in patient management. Rotations occur only at the Roswell Park campus in Buffalo.

Curriculum & research

Instruction in radiation physics and radiation biology is offered every year. Self-designed/self-taught didactics and lecture series are created by residents with faculty mentorship.

We encourage and support resident-led research, including:

  • Resident-written internal clinical research protocols
  • Basic science/bench research, including collaboration outside of the department (Immunology, Cell Stress Biology, Cancer Genetics and others)

In fact, work in your first two years of residency can earn you up to a full year of research time.

Funding is available for participation in national conferences.
