A brain cancer vaccine developed at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center — SurVaxM — is being utilized in a pilot study in children and adolescents marking the first clinical trial of the immunotherapy in a pediatric population. New research led by Kara Kelly, MD, of Roswell Park and presented at the American Society of Clinical Oncology 2022 Annual Meeting in Chicago shows that a combination of brentuximab vedotin (Bv) and standard chemotherapy is safe and more effective than standard chemotherapy in pediatric patients up to age 21 years with newly diagnosed high-risk Hodgkin lymphoma.

A team of researchers at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, led by Dhyan Chandra, PhD, have uncovered evidence that could lead to the development of a new treatment option for patients with metastatic, resistant or recurrent prostate cancer. Their findings, published today in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, suggest that mitochondrial unfolded protein response — a unique longevity function of mitochondria — could be a new target for the treatment and management of this patient population.
