A widely accessible drug commonly used to control blood glucose levels in diabetic patients has the potential to strengthen the effects of immunotherapy and improve recurrence-free survival in people with lung cancer who are overweight or obese, according to work newly published in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute and led by Roswell Park's Sai Yendamuri, MD, MBA, FACS.

Roswell Park, in partnership with the University at Buffalo School of Nursing, has received a five-year, $2.11 million Institutional Clinical Scientist Awards (K12) grant from the National Cancer Institute to establish a training program for nurse-scientists focused around clinical translational research.
