Meet the Team: Dr. Sai Yendamuri

"As a doctor, you can have an immediate and lasting impact on people around you."

After completing his fellowship in 2007, Sai Yendamuri, MD, sought a position allowing him to provide care for lung cancer patients while freely collaborating with fellow physicians and oncologists. The multidisciplinary environment at Roswell Park turned out to be exactly what he was looking for.

Eight years later, and now Chair of the Department of Thoracic Surgery, Dr. Yendamuri continues to treat thoracic malignancies through minimally invasive surgery.

In addition to providing care for patients in Western New York, Dr. Yendamuri is making a difference in his home country of India. Although it is one of the most populous countries in the world, India has very few dedicated thoracic surgeons to combat high rates of tuberculosis. Dr. Yendamuri is taking an active role in changing this troubling ratio and increasing awareness by training future surgeons as well as performing thoracic operations himself.

In the above video, Dr. Yendamuri shares more about his international efforts, discusses his vision for Roswell Park’s Department of Thoracic Surgery and explains the benefits of minimally invasive surgery.
