Gynecologic Oncologist

A gynecologic oncologist is a gynecologist with advanced training to specialize in diagnosing and treating cancers of the female reproductive organs. Your gynecologic oncologist is the captain of your cancer care team and will perform your cervical cancer surgery and procedures and manage your chemotherapy and other medical therapeutics. All the gynecologists at Roswell Park are board-certified or board-eligible gynecologic oncologists.

Radiation Oncologist

A radiation oncologist is an oncologist who specializes in using radiation therapy to treat cancer or its symptoms. This physician will determine which type of radiotherapy, the dose and number of treatment sessions is best for your cancer. At Roswell Park, we have a radiation oncologist who specializes in treating gynecologic cancers and works closely with your gynecologic oncologist to plan your treatment and deliver it optimally.

Pathologist

A pathologist is the physician who analyzes your tissue samples from tumors, lymph nodes and other areas and performs laboratory tests to determine whether cancer cells are present, and if so, the type and grade of your cervical cancer. The pathologist provides essential information your care team needs to determine the very best treatment options for you and your cancer. At Roswell Park, your samples are analyzed by pathologists who focus specifically on the diagnosis of gynecological cancers.

Advanced Practice Providers

An advanced practice provider (APP) is a medical professional such as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner. APPs work in all areas of the hospital and play an important role in the development and implementation of your treatment plan. They perform examinations, order tests, interpret data and prescribe medication.
