About Nicole Gaulin

Biography:

My interest in cancer biology began even prior to starting medical school, when I witnessed close family members deal with a cancer diagnosis, and later when I took an undergraduate cancer biology course. I was captivated by the complex and seemingly random deranged behavior of cancer cells, with each answered question begging more questions. After obtaining my undergraduate degree in Biology at SUNY Geneseo, I pursued the path of scientific inquiry during my Master's program in Interdisciplinary Natural Sciences, with a focus in Tumor Immunology, at Roswell Park. I then decided to go on to medical school at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in Buffalo, NY. In medical school, I developed a strong interest in women’s health and was able to volunteer with the Lighthouse Medical Clinic to provide gynecologic care for the uninsured population. During my OB/GYN residency at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, PA, I found the perfect marriage of my interests, oncology and women’s health, in gynecologic oncology.

I am honored to return to my hometown to continue my training at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where I can continue to seek answers to basic science questions in the lab and learn from world-class physicians to take care of patients with gynecologic malignancies.
