Roswell Park Oncologist Presents Webinar to Educate Health Care Professionals on Best Practices in Myeloma Treatment

Philip L. McCarthy, MD, Professor of Oncology and Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, was welcomed as a Managing Myeloma world expert to present “Selecting Patients for Maintenance or Continuous Therapy Including Regimen Selection and Duration of Treatment.”

Offered three times between Sept. 15–17, Dr. McCarthy’s talk was targeted to physicians, pharmacists, physician assistants, nurses, and other health care professionals who have an interest in enhancing their clinical skills in the management of multiple myeloma.

The topic was offered in response to a recent survey regarding the use of maintenance therapy in providers’ practice. As part of Dr. McCarthy’s discussion, he provided an overview of current clinical data supporting specific maintenance strategy approaches after transplant, continuous therapy in non-transplant patients, as well as safety considerations. He also discussed some new approaches that are emerging from clinical trials.

During the 45-minute presentation, participants had the opportunity to submit questions in real time. Following the presentation, Dr. McCarthy responded to many of these questions in a live, 15-minute Q&A. The webinar was accredited for 1.0 LIVE CME/CPE/CNE credit hour.
