Jens Hillengass, MD, Chief of Myeloma at Roswell Park, led an International Myeloma Working Group (IMWG) effort to compile new recommendations for imaging techniques that offer more sensitive and accurate diagnosis and monitoring for patients with multiple myeloma and other plasma-cell disorders.

The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has affirmed its support for Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, renewing its status as one of 50 elite Comprehensive Cancer Centers and awarding a $22.5 million Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) to fund core research and education programs — the largest such award and highest application score in Roswell Park’s history. Roswell Park has held this prestigious NCI designation continuously since it became one of the nation’s very first Comprehensive Cancer Centers more than 45 years ago.

Igor Puzanov, MD, Director of the Early Phase Clinical Trials Program and Chief of Melanoma at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, led research on the immunotherapy T-VEC, or talimogene laherparepvec, to be presented at the annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago.

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center physicians Grace Dy, MD, Chief of Thoracic Oncology, and Maya Khalil, MD, Chief Hematology-Oncology Fellow​, led an effort to identify whether the tumor microenvironment can predict risk of disease recurrence in patients with non-metastatic lung adenocarcinoma. Dr. Khalil will present the team’s findings this week at the 55th annual meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) in Chicago.
