The Latest, Most Promising Treatments
Eligible patients at Roswell Park have access to clinical trials of new and promising treatments that may not be available elsewhere, including cutting-edge immunotherapies such as CAR T-cell therapy and the SurVaxM vaccine, which was developed by our own researchers. Our tumor board brings together specialists from several fields to help create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.
High-Volume Centers Linked to Better Survival
We treat a high volume of multiple myeloma patients. Because our experts deal with the disease every day, they’re very familiar with the latest drugs and treatment approaches, and they know how to handle complications. A recent study shows that patients treated at high-volume centers like Roswell Park have a lower risk of death from the disease compared with patients treated at low-volume centers.
An Internationally Recognized Expert Who Helps Set the Standards
Jens Hillengass, MD, Chief of Myeloma at Roswell Park, is among the experts who serve on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) panel that develops the national guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple myeloma. He was lead investigator of a study supported by the Black Swan Research Initiative of the International Myeloma Foundation, a groundbreaking project that brings together renowned researchers from around the world to work together toward a cure.
A Center of Excellence for Blood or Marrow Transplant
If you need a blood or marrow transplant (BMT), now or in the future, you’ll be in good hands in our Transplant & Cellular Therapies Center. Roswell Park was among the first centers in the world to routinely offer BMT, and we consistently have excellent patient survival results.
Fast, Early, Accurate Detection and Diagnosis
Our pathologists and radiologists concentrate on cancer — just cancer — every single day. They’re highly skilled in the diagnosis of multiple myeloma.
