Research Overview:

Research in my laboratory is focused on three areas: (i) the use of advanced imaging methods such as MRI, CT in preclinical models and in patients to study tumor angiogenesis and response of tumors to novel vascular targeted therapies, (ii) investigation into the potential of imaging-guided therapies for oral cancers, and, (iii) development of novel multifunctional and multimodal nanoparticles for targeted imaging and therapy of cancer. The work is interdisciplinary in nature and draws on concepts from biophysics, cancer biology, pharmacology, molecular biology and therapeutics. Given my clinical background, I feel strongly about pursuing a research program that addresses clinically-relevant questions in the laboratory setting and potentially translates the knowledge gained into meaningful outcomes for patients.
