It's a Girl! Buffalo Museum of Science, Roswell Park Reveal Results from CT Scan of South American Mummy

The results of the “virtual autopsy” performed on a South American mummy from the collection of the Buffalo Museum of Science (BMS) are in, providing new insights into the life of the infant mummy. As part of the groundbreaking Mummies of the World exhibition, which premiered in Buffalo on April 12, Dr. Peter Loud of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and Dr. Heather Gill-Frerking of American Exhibitions, Inc., along with a team of RPCI radiologists performed a noninvasive 3D computed tomography scan of the mummy on April 7.

Roswell Park Faculty Leader Dr. James Mohler Recommends Wider Use of Androgen-Deprivation Therapy

Men whose prostate-specific antigen level increases after radical prostatectomy or radiotherapy but who have no known metastases comprise the second-largest group of patients with prostate cancer. However, no standard of care exists for these patients, according to James Mohler, MD, Associate Director, Senior Vice President of Translational Research and Chair of the Department of Urology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancere Center.

Roswell Park Selected by NCI to Take Leadership Role in Clinical Research on New Cancer Treatments

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center was chosen by the National Cancer Institute to serve as a Lead Academic Participating Site, providing scientific leadership for the development and conduct of clinical trials within the NCI’s new National Clinical Trials Network. The NCTN was created to speed the late-phase clinical trials that are necessary to establish new therapeutic agents as cancer treatments for the 1.6 million Americans diagnosed with cancer each year.
