Sugar-sweetened beverages such as soda, sweet tea, lemonade and sweetened coffee beverages lead to excess added sugar in the diet, which may lead to weight gain.
Obesity and cancer
"There's a lot of evidence that for someone who's overweight, losing even a small amount — five pounds, 10 pounds — can reduce the chances that they'll be diagnosed with cancer."
The National Cancer Institute warns that obesity "may worsen several aspects of cancer survivorship, including quality of life, cancer recurrence, cancer progression and prognosis."
Studies show those who are overweight or obese are at greater risk for many diseases. While studies can’t conclusively prove that obesity causes cancer, there is growing evidence that higher amounts of body fat are consistently associated with increased risks for developing certain types of cancers.
