Update: Two-Spirit Colorectal Cancer Education Project

The CICR team continues to partner with Northwestern University’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellness on a project aimed at engaging Two-Spirit and Native LGBTQ+ community members for feedback on Indigenized education material around colorectal cancer and screening.

The Department of Indigenous Cancer Health team continues to partner with Northwestern University’s Institute for Sexual and Gender Minority Health and Wellness on a project aimed at engaging Two-Spirit and Native LGBTQ+ community members for feedback on Indigenized education material around colorectal cancer and screening. To date, we have completed six virtual roundtable sessions to solicit feedback and guidance, and we’re now sharing deidentified data with first year Indigenous medical students from Northwestern University who have agreed to support the data analysis portion of the project. These five students will review feedback transcribed from the roundtable sessions and will compile and present major themes and recommendations from participants. This project is an initial step to build inclusive outreach and education materials for Two-Spirit and Native LGBTQ+ relatives.
