- Medical oncologist Sarbajit Mukherjee, MD, MS, serves on the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) panel that establishes the best treatment practices for stomach cancer.
- Surgical oncologist Moshim Kukar, MD, and Dr. Mukherjee serve on the NCCN panel that creates the treatment guidelines for esophageal and esophagogastric cancer.
Our cutting-edge therapies
We offer treatments at the forefront of cancer care, plus clinicians with the knowledge and experience to use them. Your cancer care plan may include:
- Advanced endoscopic treatments, such as endoscopic mucosal resection and endoscopic submucosal dissection, that remove early cancers with a “through the mouth” approach that allows some patients to avoid a major operation.
- Minimally invasive and robotic surgery from a high-volume center. Roswell Park performs more than 60 gastrectomies each year (20 per year is considered high volume) with the majority using minimally invasive approaches with small incisions and robotic tool precision.
- The latest emerging targeted agents and immunotherapies — many available only through clinical trials — are important options for many people with stomach cancer.
- Cytoreduction surgery and HIPEC. This is a highly specialized treatment for cancers that have spread to the inner lining of the abdomen, which affects about 20 to 30% of stomach cancer patients.
