About Khalid Shalaby

Biography:

I grew up in Benha, Egypt, and attended medical school at Ain Shams University in Cairo, where I gained a passion for hematology/oncology. I was fortunate to complete a Cancer Biology & Therapeutics graduate program from Harvard Medical School after receiving a scholarship from DHFMR.

My interest in hematology and cellular therapeutics grew during my research internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. I found a new home in the internal medicine residency program at the University of Connecticut, where I also served as a PGY4 chief medical resident. I’m interested in medical education, clinical reasoning, healthcare equity, and blood donation. You can catch my posts on NEJM Journal Watch "Insights on Residency Training."

I’m excited about the opportunities Roswell Park offers between rigorous clinical training, mentorship, and research. Outside work, I love spending time with my wife, Noha, exploring Western NY, cooking, reading, watching, and playing soccer and basketball. I won’t pass on a conversation about Dostoevsky’s work, the Hamilton musical, Milwaukee Bucks, Manchester United, or the daily Wordle.
