Advanced training in every stage of breast cancer
Roswell Park is one of the few free-standing NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers in New York State, providing comprehensive cancer care to the Western New York region. Our breast imaging fellows are an integral part of our multidisciplinary team to provide individualized breast care to each of our patients.
Fellowship highlights
- Family friendly. Weekday breast imaging only, no general radiology or weekend call.
- Combination of a tertiary referral center, comprehensive cancer center, and Roswell Park Cancer Care Network in a community setting.
- Weekly multidisciplinary conference, to collaborate with oncology, surgery, plastic surgery, pathology, radiation oncology and genetics. Fellow may also choose to spend time with these services on elective.
- Electives. Fellow may choose to spend time on research, or rotate with other clinical or imaging services.
- Weekly didactics and quarterly journal club through Breast Imaging Fellowship Consortium
- Expert support staff from patient access service and navigators.
- A robust high risk screening program with high risk breast clinic.
- Opportunities for research, quality improvement projects and community outreach either through Roswell Park or affiliation with University of Buffalo School of Medicine

Locations
Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center
Our Breast Imaging Center is located on the second floor of the Clinical Sciences Building on our main campus in downtown Buffalo. There are four Hologic Selenia Dimensions 2D/3D Mammography systems with 3D Quorum, and three Phillips Epiq Ultrasound systems.
Service provided:
Digital mammogram with tomosynthesis for screening and diagnostic exams
Diagnostic and screening ultrasound
3 Breast MRIs (GE 3T 750, GE 3T Architect and GE 1.5T Artist)
Image guided breast biopsies (ultrasound, stereotatic with upright and prone units, MRI)
Imaging guided localization with I-125 radioactive seed, wire and Savi Scout
Scott Bieler Amherst Center
The Scott Bieler Amherst Center is located in Williamsville, New York, a short drive from our downtown hospital. This location provides care to the Northtown communities and is also adjacent to the Breast Care of Western New York breast clinic. The Scott Bieler Amherst Center houses a GE 3T Architect that scans breast MRI.
Breast Care of Western New York
Breast Care of Western New York houses two digital tomosynthesis mammogram units and two ultrasound units. Diagnostic and screening services are provided, as well as ultrasound guided biopsies.
How to apply
The Breast Imaging Fellowship program is open to board-certified or board-eligible diagnostic radiologists. There is one position available annually. We participate in the fellowship match sponsored by SBI and managed by NRMP. Interviews will be conducted virtually, site visits are welcome.
