Indigenous & Rural Patient Navigation: Where are we now?

Indigenous and Rural Patient Navigation logo

Roswell Park’s Indigenous and Rural Patient Navigation program through the Center for Indigenous Cancer Services, is in its second full year. You may see our team active in the community, at health and resource fairs, field days, pow-wows, etc. providing information and education on our navigation program and cancer screenings.

We have had some minor changes to our program. Our Salamanca/Allegany Territory Navigator position became vacant earlier in the year. After some conversations between the team and our Department of Indigenous Cancer Health Community Advisory Board, we found it best to keep the position within the Haudenosaunee communities and are expanding our reach to Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe in Akwesasne, NY. The vacant Community Patient Navigator position is posted and is based in Akwesasne, NY to support our Mohawk relatives.

If your organization or community would like an information session or one-on-one education on cancer screenings in Indigenous communities,- please feel free to reach out to Whitney Ann Henry via phone/text/email to learn more.
