Nurse practitioners and physician assistants can gain postgraduate training in oncology-based surgical care to bridge the gap in APP education and surgical oncology clinical practice.

Rotations and curriculum
The Surgical Oncology APP Fellowship will take place over a period of 12 months, starting on October 31, 2026. Fellows will have the opportunity to rotate through various surgical specialties, including but not limited to:
- Thoracic
- Gynecology
- Urology
- Gastrointestinal
- Oncology
Fellows will participate in weekly didactic learning experiences, including Advanced Oncology Nurse Certification training. All fellows will wrap up the program with the completion of their chosen capstone project.
Eligibility and how to apply
Eligible fellows must:
- Have a current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) licenses and or Physician Assistant (PA) license with the appropriate board certification prior to the deadline.
- Nurse Practitioners must have RNFA certification.
- Be graduates of an accredited NP and or PA program.
