You’ll leave this event with new tools to help you adjust emotionally, spiritually and physically to your new normal as a cancer survivor. This year’s event features a range of topics that will benefit cancer patients still undergoing treatment, cancer patients who have completed treatment, long-term cancer survivors, young adult cancer patients and caregivers.

Cost

$20 per registrant. Cost includes breakfast and lunch. Payment must be made at time of registration.

Keynote Speaker

Keynote Address: “A Funny Thing Happened to Me on the Way to Chemo”

About the Speaker: Dan Shapiro, PhD. is a cancer survivor and the Vice Dean for Faculty and Administrative Affairs at the Penn State College of Medicine. He is also the Garner James Kline Professor of Humanities in Medicine. Shapiro has written three books about his own personal experience with cancer. A psychologist, Shapiro trained at the University of Florida and Harvard Medical School. He has a long-standing interest in how systems can be improved to make care and caregiving more humane. His writings about the patient experience and physician-patient relationships have appeared or been featured in The New York Times, The New England Journal of Medicine, JAMA, Academic Medicine, Proceedings of the National Academies of Science and NPR’s All Things Considered.
