Description of Duties

The Niswander lab in the Department of Pediatric Oncology is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow with interests in cellular immunotherapies, molecularly-targeted therapies, and/or leukemia biology.

Chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell immunotherapy targeting the CD19 cell surface antigen has demonstrated unprecedented efficacy in children with relapsed or refractory acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Unfortunately, however, many patients will experience ALL relapse after initial response. The Niswander lab is particularly interested in improving the long-term efficacy of CAR T cell immunotherapy through the preclinical investigation of rational combinatorial therapeutic approaches with CAR T cells and small molecule inhibitors that target key biologic vulnerabilities of certain genetic subtypes of high-risk leukemia.

Qualifications

The candidate should have completed a PhD in immunology, cancer biology, or related field. A strong publication record and prior experience with commonly used laboratory methods including flow cytometry, in vitro cell culture, and mouse cancer xenograft models are preferred.

The candidate must be motivated, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and be able to work independently and thrive within in a highly collaborative team environment.
