Ather Hussain Syed

Biography:

I am a PGY-4 heme/onc fellow at Roswell Park. I come from a family of lawyers, and I was the first doctor in my family. I grew up in Karachi, Pakistan, which is where I attended medical school. I moved to Rochester, NY, for my internal medicine residency. I love upstate NY because of its scenic beauty, lakes and rivers.


I chose Roswell Park because of its very strong academic reputation and also because it is in the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in upstate NY. I became very impressed by Roswell Park during my fellowship interview trail when I met with their alumni who were pursuing very successful academic careers in different parts of the US. Roswell Park offered the opportunity to work under the direct mentorship of world renowned oncologists who are shaping the future of oncology.


Fun fact about me - my wife and I hope to visit a new country every year and this year we visited Spain and loved it! I enjoy travelling, trekking, boating, swimming and spending time with my family.
