About Sandra Sexton

Biography:

I earned a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1991 from the University of Agricultural Sciences in Bogotá, Colombia. After working in private practice and then relocating to the United States, I obtained the degree certification  in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery and went on to completing a postdoctoral residency in Laboratory Animal Medicine from the State University of NY at Buffalo, Division of Comparative Medicine.

I joined Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in 2003 as a Research Affiliate and Post-doctoral veterinary resident and was then appointed as Institute Veterinarian of the Laboratory Animal Shared Resource (LASR). I was promoted to Facility Director and Attending Veterinarian in 2006. I obtained the Board Certification as a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine in 2013.

As COSR Director and Attending veterinarian, I provide support to  scientists in all CCSG Programs with diverse experimental objectives,  and operational leadership in the resource to have a care program that include provision of appropriate facilities, personnel, and equipment to assure compliance with all regulatory requirements and  maintain AAALAC International accreditation.
