Five New Faculty Members Join Network; Three at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse as it launches new services

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Roswell Park Care Network is pleased to announce the addition of thoracic surgery services at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, New York, along with the hiring of five new faculty members across the state.
As a member of the Roswell Park Care Network since 2023, St. Joseph’s Health offers patients advanced therapies, personalized treatment plans and access to clinical trials closer to home. The Roswell Park Care Network, extending across New York and Northwest Pennsylvania, improves the reach of quality cancer care offered by Roswell Park, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center in Upstate New York. The new thoracic surgery program at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, NY, expands access to expert care for patients with lung disease and chest-related cancers.

As the Roswell Park Care Network’s services continue to grow, so does its faculty. The network is proud to announce the recent hiring of five new faculty members at three different locations across New York State. These individuals bring years of experience in their fields of study and help to strengthen the services patients now have access to in a community setting, provided by Roswell Park-affiliated specialists.
David Wormuth, MD, MPH, FACS, joins the Care Network as a thoracic surgeon at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, New York. His education includes degrees from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse and the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Wormuth was born and raised in Central New York, where he has been practicing since 2002, treating lung and esophageal cancers along with benign thoracic problems.
Michael Parish, MD, joins the Care Network as a thoracic surgeon at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, New York. His education and clinical background includes a degree from Howard University Medical School in Washington, D.C., a cardiothoracic residency at New York University Medical Center and a surgery residency at Howard University.
Najam ud Din, MBBS, joins the Care Network as a medical oncologist at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse, New York. His education and clinical background includes a degree from The Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan, and an internal medicine residency at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York.
Maksim Liaukovich, MD, joins the Care Network as a medical oncologist at Samaritan Health in Watertown, New York. His education background includes a degree from Grodno State Medical University and an internal medicine residency at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center.
Edward Ventresca, MD, FCCP, FCP, FAASM, joins the Care Network as a pulmonologist in Amherst, New York. His education and clinical background includes a degree from the University of Rome, La Sapienza, Rome, Italy, and an internal medicine residency and fellowship at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.
