Roswell Park is comprised of two organizations, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) and Health Research Incorporated (HRI) Roswell Park Division.
Roswell Park became a Public Benefit Corporation pursuant to legislation in 1999. Before that, Roswell Park was part of the New York State Department of Health. Becoming a Public Benefit Corporation has provided the double benefit of administrative autonomy (Roswell Park is able to make its own decisions related to space, personnel and funding since these decisions now rest with the President and CEO and Roswell Park Board of Directors) and substantial financial support from New York State.
The HRI Roswell Park Division was established in 1953 primarily to serve the research programs of the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, which at that time was an institution of the Department of Health. HRI is a not-for-profit corporation organized under the New York State not-for-profit Corporation Law. HRI has accepted and administered over 3.5 billion dollars in funding to supplement DOH and Roswell Park programs, and has established a proven track record of assuring that funds are utilized in accordance with the requirements of the sponsor.
The HRI Roswell Park Division participates in E-Verify.
