About Sarah Werner

Biography:

I was born and raised in Boston, MA. I earned a dual degree in brain and cognitive science and American Sign Language from the University of Rochester. I was always drawn towards health care and my passion for taking care of people was solidified as I became an EMT during my time as an undergraduate. While at SUNY Downstate Medical College, I was passionate about women's health, eager to become a point person to help navigate patients through some of the most vulnerable times in their lives. I was fortunate to be involved with our women's free clinic and coordinating healthcare outreach programs in our surrounding communities as well as volunteering in our HIV clinic.

I completed my residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in New York City, where I solidified my interest in the development and treatment of gynecological cancers. I conducted research on enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) in gynecologic surgery, applications of sentinel lymph node detection at non specialty centers and risk reducing bilateral salpingo-ophorectomies.

I am excited for the opportunity to continue to push my practice as a clinical fellow in Gynecologic Oncology at Roswell Park Cancer Center. I feel fortunate to train in an environment with a strong commitment to advancing the field while providing empathic and patient centered care.

I am also fluent in American Sign Language.
