BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is proud to welcome Loriana Hernández-Aldama as the keynote speaker at its Second Annual Pro Perspectives Speaker Symposium.
Hernández-Aldama is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, international speaker, and two-time cancer survivor. Author of Becoming the Story: The Power of PREhab, Hernández-Aldama shares her deeply personal journey from reporting the news to becoming the story herself — after surviving both leukemia and breast cancer. Her experience exposed critical gaps in the healthcare system and inspired her mission to transform care and empower patients.
As founder of ArmorUp for LIFE, Hernández-Aldama equips low-resourced communities with tools to “master survival,” advocating for patient fairness, access to clinical trials, and improved outcomes. Named to the Cancer Health 25, she now travels the globe sounding the alarm on health disparities and the urgent need for proactive wellness.
“Loriana’s story is a powerful call to action,” says Elisa Rodriguez, PhD, MS, Vice President and Associate Director for Institutional Leadership at Roswell Park. “She reminds us that prioritizing our health — through screenings, self-care and informed choices — is not just personal, it’s transformational. Her message reinforces our commitment to creating a healthcare environment where every individual feels seen, supported and empowered.”
This free public event is part of Roswell Park’s ongoing efforts to elevate voices in healthcare that champion empowerment, compassion and patient-centered care.
The Pro Perspectives Speaker Symposium will take place Wednesday, October 8, 2025, from 6– 7:30 p.m. in Roswell Park’s Research Studies Center at 610 Elm St., Buffalo. Advance registration is encouraged. For more information, go to roswellpark.org/prospeaker.
