BUFFALO, N.Y. — An experienced executive with a passion for serving cancer patients and exceptional strategic leadership skills has rejoined the Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center team. Roswell Park President and CEO Candace S. Johnson, PhD, has recruited Jeff Walker, MBA, back to Western New York to fill the new role of Executive Vice President of Operations and Transformation for the National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center.

Walker will help shape strategic goals and objectives, managing operational, financial and some clinical functions, and play a leadership role in the day-to-day activities of the center.

Among other accomplishments during his previous role with Roswell Park from 2007-2010, Walker led the successful effort to renew the center’s Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), securing the center its highest CCSG score at that time.

“Jeff’s vast national experience in comprehensive cancer care coupled with his visionary operational insights make him a phenomenal leader who will help us take the services we provide to our patients and community to new heights,” says Dr. Johnson. “We are thrilled to welcome him back to Buffalo and to work together on new initiatives.”

“What is happening at Roswell Park is so inspiring. I am excited and energized to rejoin this exceptional group of bright minds and to work closely with Dr. Johnson on achieving Roswell’s bold vision of freeing our world from the fear, pain and loss due to cancer,” said Walker.

Walker was previously the Chief Operating Officer at City of Hope National Medical Center in California and prior to that, Chief Operating Officer of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center and the James Cancer Hospital. He holds his master’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh and bachelor of science from Pennsylvania State University.
