BUFFALO, N.Y. — For the second consecutive year, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center has been named a Guardian of Excellence Award winner by Press Ganey, a prestigious designation that recognizes sustained high performance in patient experience.

The annual Guardian of Excellence award honors those who have consistently ranked in the top 5% of hospitals evaluated through the inpatient Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, which captures patients’ feedback about the inpatient care they have received.

“Roswell Park is honored to once again receive this impressive designation. It is a special recognition, as it is based on what our patients say about us,” says Candace Johnson, PhD, President & CEO of Roswell Park. “This survey scientifically measures our patient experiences and compares us to other hospitals. This award is verification of the quality cancer care we provide to our patients every day.”

“The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award belongs to everyone at Roswell Park, especially those who provide inpatient care,” says Boris Kuvshinoff, MD, MBA, Chief Medical Officer at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. “It takes an extraordinary team effort to provide patients with a satisfying experience during what can be the most trying times of their lives. This award is a recognition of the dedicated work of our nurses, clinicians, and fellows, as well as staff members in Pharmacy, Clinical Nutrition, Psychosocial Oncology, Case Management, Physical Therapy, Pastoral Care and Environmental Services, not to mention all those in administrative and clerical support roles who help us maintain such a high level of inpatient care.”

“We offer our hearty congratulations to Roswell Park. It really is a great accomplishment, given the stringent qualifications required to earn this award,” says Patrick T. Ryan, CEO of Press Ganey. “Roswell Park is among an elite group of health care organizations demonstrating the ability to deliver the highest quality of care for their patients.”

For more than 30 years, Press Ganey has offered support to health care providers in understanding and improving the entire patient experience.
