Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is proud to announce its designation as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s Healthcare Equality Index (HEI) 2022.

Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26), Co-Chair of the House Cancer Caucus, joined Roswell Park CEO Dr. Candace Johnson to announce $1.5 million in federal funding awarded to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Secured by Congressman Higgins as part of the fiscal year 2022 budget recently passed by Congress and signed into law, this funding will support the upgrade of computed tomography (CT) equipment including the purchase of a new CT scanner, as well as efforts to promote and increase lung cancer screenings, particularly those in underserved communities. 

Transportation barriers, including access to public transportation or a personal vehicle, disproportionately affect cancer survivors, particularly if they are young, uninsured or live below the poverty line, according to results of a study published today in JAMA Oncology.
