Researchers Evaluating Immunotherapy Approaches for Treating Metastatic Kidney, Prostate, Bladder Cancers

Researchers at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute Center for Immunotherapy are enrolling patients in three different clinical trials of novel immunotherapy approaches for treating genitourinary cancers. One of the studies will assess how patients’ immune systems respond to targeted radiation treatments for metastatic kidney cancer. Another will evaluate how patients’ immune systems respond to targeted radiation treatments for metastatic prostate cancer, in combination with immunotherapy, and a third will focus on a new type of immunotherapy for bladder cancer.

Jasco Pharmaceuticals to Present Jasco/Roswell Park Research on PIM Inhibitors at ASH Annual Meeting

Jasco Pharmaceuticals, LLC announced that preclinical data on its PIM inhibitor program would be presented at the 2013 American Society of Hematology (ASH) Annual Meeting and Exposition to be held on December 7-10 in New Orleans, LA. The poster will be presented on Saturday, December 7, 2013 from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM at Exhibit Hall G, Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, abstract 1931. The results will include data generated by the lab of Dr. Kelvin Lee of the Department of Immunology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) in Buffalo, NY, in collaboration with Jasco and with the Center for Drug Development at RPCI.

Roswell Park Appoints Two New Directors to Top Posts

Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is pleased to announce the appointment of two directors to key positions in our clinical and business administrative staffs. Kara Eaton has been promoted to Executive Director of Roswell Park’s Patient/Family Experience Department, and Harl Tolbert is the new Director of Technology Transfer and Commercial Development.

BUFFALO, NY — Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center’s (Roswell Park’s) annual Tree of Hope lighting ceremony will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Kaminski Park and Gardens on the Roswell Park campus.

Roswell Park Earns Federal Tax Credit Allocation for Major Clinical Expansion

Thanks to a coordinated effort involving many partners, Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) has secured more than $6 million in additional funds toward construction of its Clinical Sciences Center (CSC), a 142,000-square-foot facility to be used for patient care, research and survivor support services. The funds will be distributed through the New Markets Tax Credit Program, established by Congress in 2000 to spur investments in low-income communities.
