Outreach & Engagement Highlights

Although 2021 proved to be a challenging year for many, our team worked together to address ongoing barriers created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the course of 2021 we organized a total of 86 outreach efforts with Indigenous, internal, county, city, and international partners. These outreach efforts with more than 3,000 individuals took place in the form of collaborative discussions and other coordination efforts. Together, we are building our network to enhance our community impact.

We also participated in 31 virtual and in-person events to directly engage with nearly 2,400 community members, students, researchers, and other participants.

This type of engagement and outreach elevates our work into various networks, encourages inclusion of Indigenous communities in research, and creates opportunities for the Department of Indigenous Cancer Health to join and lead innovative cancer health-related initiatives.

This community outreach and engagement continues in 2022, including direct engagement and collaborative discussions with community and research leaders in Oklahoma, Hawaii and northern New York.
