Michael Kearns
Research Associate
Michael completed his undergraduate degree in Cellular Biology at the College of the Holy Cross. He joined the Ding Lab looking to pursue his interest in cancer research, focusing on targeted therapeutics to overcome resistance.
Colin Thomas
Senior Research Technician, Lab Manager
Colin received his Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University at Buffalo. His thesis focused on 3D cellular modeling in cardiovascular disease. Subsequently, he transitioned into translational cancer immunotherapies research in the Ding Lab.
Outside the lab: Colin enjoys playing hockey/golf, working out, and spending time with his dog Banks.
Yu Li, PhD
Postdoctoral Fellow
Yu received his PhD from Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Sciences. His PhD thesis is focused on the role and mechanism of microRNAs in tumor invasion and metastasis. His current research involves understanding of immunosuppression in cancer progression and therapeutic resistance in cancer treatment, as well as anti-tumor immunity induced by targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
Outside of the lab: Yu enjoys swimming, practicing calligraphy and listening to classical music.
Jasmine Lee
MD-PhD Candidate
Jasmine completed her undergraduate degree in Human Biology at University of California (UC) San Diego. She is a MD-PhD candidate at University at Buffalo. She has a deep passion for translational oncology research and is interested in contributing to the development of novel therapies as well as the enhancement of existing treatments.
Outside the lab: Jasmine enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, cooking, playing the cello, and watching movies or shows from different countries while learning new languages.
Bridget Lenahan
PhD Candidate
Bridget graduated from St. John Fisher University in 2022 with a BS in Biology and is currently a first-year PhD student at Roswell Park in the Tumor Immunology Program. She is interested in studying the tumor microenvironment and understanding immune cell interactions in cancer.
Outside the lab: Bridget enjoys working out, yoga, playing field hockey, and trying new restaurants with friends around Buffalo.
Aya Halwah
Research Intern (MD Candidate)
Aya completed a bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in Medicine, Health and Society at Stony Brook University in 2022. She joined the lab with enthusiasm in hopes of continuing on in cancer research after spending part of her gap year contributing to clinical research projects at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC.
