BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sparking joy, hope and smiles, Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center just wrapped up its inaugural Community Holiday Toy Drive, collecting 2,500-plus toys for children across Buffalo and Western New York.

Throughout December, patients, families and hospital staff filled donation bins on campus. Fisher-Price donated more than 200 boxes of toys, and the Buffalo Fire Department eagerly joined in on the effort to ensure families would have a happy holiday season.

The gifts were distributed to more than a dozen community centers and groups in the Buffalo area. The Roswell Park team also presented donated toys to local government and law-enforcement agencies in support of broader initiatives to share holiday gifts for children throughout both urban and rural communities.

“We all know that 2020 has been a year of great pain, loss and uncertainty,” said Candace S. Johnson, PhD, President & CEO of Roswell Park. “How powerful it is to meet those destructive forces with generosity, support and love for one another as we close out this year and greet a new one with hope and positivity.”
