Roswell Park Experts to Lead Live Video Web Chat on Colorectal Cancer Screening
WHAT: A multidisciplinary panel of experts from Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center will discuss screening for those at high risk for colorectal cancer during a live, interactive video web chat. Questions to be discussed include:
- How do you know if you are at high risk?
- What role does genetics play?
- When should high-risk screenings begin and what do they involve?
The experts will respond to questions submitted online and will discuss the unique screening needs of those who are at high risk for colorectal cancer — such as people with a family history of the disease.
WHEN: Tuesday, March 24, 6–7 p.m. EDT
WHO: Participating Roswell Park experts are:
- Andrew Bain, MD, Chief of Endoscopy. Dr. Bain works in Roswell Park’s new state-of-the-art Endoscopy Center and specializes in diagnosing and staging different gastrointestinal cancers.
- Steven Nurkin, MD, MS, FACS, surgical oncologist at Roswell Park. Dr. Nurkin specializes in gastrointestinal pre-cancerous conditions and cancer of the colon and rectum. His expertise is also in minimally invasive treatment approaches to tumors with advanced endoscopic and robotic techniques.
- Nicoleta Voian, MD, MPH, Director of the Clinical Genetics Service. Dr. Voian helps people to understand their cancer risk based on their personal and family history of cancer.
