WYRK’s Taste of Country Strums Up Support for Breast Cancer Research at Roswell Park

Auction of pink guitar signed by country stars, sales of pink cowboy hats to benefit Roswell Park

BUFFALO, NY — Country music is inspiring breast cancer cures at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park). Country 106.5 WYRK-FM has been busy collecting autographs from country music stars who have come through Western New York in the last year, on a custom-designed pink guitar to be raffled off June 4. More than a dozen artists — including Toby Keith, Keith Urban and Kid Rock — have signed this very special acoustic guitar as part of the Country Music Inspires Cures campaign.

Supporters can donate $10 online at https://www.roswellpark.org/countrymusic for a chance to win the one-of-a-kind guitar, and there will be a special opportunity to donate at the Napa Auto Parts Taste of Country concert this Friday, June 1. Donations for the guitar will be accepted until midnight Saturday, June 2, and the winner will be announced live on the WYRK Breakfast Club morning show on Monday, June 4.

Each donation made to the 2012 Country Music Inspires Cures campaign will support life-saving breast cancer research at Roswell Park. Examples of this research include:

Roswell Park will also be selling pink cowboy hats at Taste of Country for $20 each, with proceeds benefiting breast cancer research. Physicians from the Roswell Park Breast Center will make a special appearance on stage during the June 1 concert at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, and performers will include Eric Church, Joe Nichols, The Eli Young Band, Casey James and Dustin Lynch.
