Dr. Andrew J. Fabiano Joins Roswell Park Neurosurgery Team

BUFFALO, NY — Andrew J. Fabiano, MD, has joined Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center (Roswell Park) as Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery and Oncology. Dr. Fabiano recently completed his residency at the University at Buffalo (UB) School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, Department of Neurosurgery, and his special areas of focus include endoscopic neurosurgery, spinal reconstructive surgery and gamma knife radiosurgery.

“Dr. Fabiano’s expertise fits very nicely with our needs at Roswell Park,” said Robert Fenstermaker, MD, FACS, Chair of the Department of Neurosurgery and Director of the Neuro-Oncology Program at Roswell Park. “He has significant experience with minimally invasive surgery techniques, emerging approaches that can be very effective in the treatment of these often-devastating tumors of the nervous system.”

“There is an outstanding neuro-oncology team in place at Roswell Park, as well as the most sophisticated tools in the region for the treatment of brain, pituitary and spine tumors,” Dr. Fabiano said. “Both assets made this a tremendously attractive opportunity, and I’m excited about incorporating these resources into my practice and my research.”

Dr. Fabiano is a 2004 graduate of the UB School of Medicine, where he earned thesis honors for outstanding academic achievement, and holds a BS degree in biology and chemistry, summa cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Chicago.

He has made numerous presentations on neurosurgical techniques and outcomes before such organizations as the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the American Society of Neuroimaging, and is author or co-author of more than 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and book chapters.Dr. Fabiano’s work has been published in such journals as the Journal of Neurosurgery, Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, the American Journal of Neuroradiology and the Journal of the Neurological Sciences.

Roswell Park is included on U.S. News & World Report’s 2010-11 listing of the Best Hospitals for cancer care.
