BUFFALO, N.Y. — Roswell Park is launching a new Facebook Live Series, Cancer Talk Live. The monthly show will feature a plethora of topics and have experts available to answer questions from the community.

So often, people have said that they just wanted to ask an expert or doctor a question. Now they will have a chance to. Anyone in the community can tune into the Facebook Live Series and comment with their questions; they don’t need to be a Roswell Park patient.

The first show, Cancer Talk Live: Cancer Risk and Screening, will take place on Monday, April 16 at noon on Roswell Park’s Facebook page (Facebook.com/RoswellPark). Mary Reid, MSPH, PhD, Director of Cancer Screening and Survivorship, and Tessa Faye Flores, MD, Medical Director of Cancer Screening and Survivorship, will discuss the importance of identifying individual cancer risk and how viewers and their loved ones can detect warning signs of cancer, or conditions that could lead to cancer, long before symptoms appear.

Throughout the year, episodes will feature various experts, guests and patients answering viewers’ questions about young adult cancers, advances in pediatric cancer, lung cancer, blood cancers and more. Roswell Park hopes this open platform helps people in the community reduce their cancer risk, keep their loved ones informed, and help themselves or someone they know during their cancer journey.

People are encouraged to register for the Facebook Live events and submit questions beforehand at RoswellPark.org/CancerTalkLive. Questions can also be submitted during the live events. Anyone can view it by logging onto Facebook.com/RoswellPark.
